UGA Housing presents RACING TO ZERO

Thursday, April 14, 6 p.m.
Rooker Hall Fireside Lounge, University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia

In 2014, the mayor of San Francisco pledged to achieve zero waste by 2020. Racing To Zero tracks San Francisco’s waste stream diversion tactics and presents innovative new solutions to waste. By simply substituting the word “resource” for the word “garbage,” a culture can be transformed and a new wealth of industries can emerge.

Green on the Screen is a sustainability film series in April sponsored by University Housing and other campus partners that celebrates some of the best recent documentaries focused people trying to make a positive impact on the environment. The series consists of four films chosen for the diverse ways they address issues related to climate change and scarcity of resources.

Covering topics ranging from innovative school lunch programs to large-scale waste reduction efforts, these films document the challenges and triumphs of everyday people as they work towards a more sustainable future.
