The second screening of This Is Home at the 16th annual MountainTop Film Festival will take place on January 22 at 7pm. This film is an intimate portrait of four Syrian refugee families arriving in America and struggling to find their footing. With only eight months of help from the International Rescue Committee to become self-sufficient, they must forge ahead to rebuild their lives in a new home: Baltimore, Maryland. They attend cultural orientation classes and job training sessions where they must "learn America" -- everything from how to take public transportation to negotiating new gender roles.

After the viewing of the documentary, there will be a special event question-and-answer period featuring members of the Refugee Resettlement Program VT.

The 16th annual MountainTop Film Festival is a human rights film festival in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. It offers a diverse program of documentary and dramatic films and special events, addressing social and environmental issues from around the world. This year’s program will feature a total of 14 films as well as special events.
